How to Create a Block in AutoCAD

  • Draw the Geometry Start by drawing the objects you want to include in the block. These could be symbols, furniture, fixtures, or any repetitive elements.

  • Select the Objects Type BLOCK in the command line or go to the Insert tab and click Create Block. In the dialog box, give your block a name and click Select Objects to choose the geometry.

  • Specify a Base Point Choose a base point for the block. This is the point you’ll use to insert the block later. You can either click on the drawing or enter coordinates.

  • Set Block Options Decide whether you want to retain, convert, or delete the original objects:

    • Retain: Keeps the original objects.

    • Convert to Block: Turns the selected objects into a block.

    • Delete: Removes the original objects after creating the block.

  • Click OK Once everything is set, click OK to create the block. You can now insert it anywhere using the INSERT command or drag it from the block library.
